I’m Hannah Lou.
Strategist by profession | Cowgirl by identity | Constantly curious by nature
Professionally, I work in strategy and business development within the agricultural industry, helping my organization and key stakeholders think about where we are headed, what might be standing in our way, and how to turn vision into meaningful action.
But long before strategy officially became a part of my job, I’ve always been a pretty gritty cowgirl.
Horses, agriculture, competition, and rural life have helped shape the way I see the world. Turns out, all those life lessons translate remarkably well to the type of work I do.
Why the strategic cowgirl?
Over the years, I’ve become increasingly fascinated by the human side of leadership, organizational structure, business operations, and strategy integration.
Why can two organizations have equally good plans and get completely different results?
Why do some teams navigate change successfully while others get stuck?
Why can everyone agree on a goal but still pull in different directions?
And why do we sometimes spend so much time measuring activity that we forget to ask whether we’re actually getting anywhere?
My background in agriculture, strategy, and industrial-organizational psychology has given me many lenses for exploring those questions.
My time in the saddle has given me even more.
The Strategic Cowgirl is where all those perspectives meet.
This project is a place to think. Write it down. To challenge assumptions. Ask better questions. Explore strategy, leadership, organizational health and all the messy space between. This place hopefully will have something for everyone—whether your a farmer or rancher leading your operation through change or are a c-suite executive, I’m here to share insights, tips, tricks, and opportunity.
Some lessons will come from inside the boardroom. Some will come from the arena. And I have a feeling the most interesting ones will come from discovering just how much the two have in common.
